LEWISTON - A motorcycle accident backed up traffic on Snake River Avenue Friday morning. The crash sent one man to the hospital this morning.

“A motorcycle was traveling west on Snake River Avenue, approaching the bottom of Prospect Grade and was unable to make the corner," said LPD Sgt. Ted Piche.

The accident happen at about 11:30 a.m. Piche said the unidentified 57-year-old driver, was a tourist from Boise. He was transported to St Joseph Regional Medical Center with a minor head injury and a possible broken leg.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

“It's the biggest risk by not wearing a helmet,” said Piche. “Law enforcement across the state encourages people to wear a helmet when they are on the roadway."

The man’s condition was unknown as of Friday night.
