Lewiston school bond comes up short

LEWISTON - It was a late night for Lewiston Schools staff, teachers, students and supporters of a $53 million bond levy they were hoping voters would approve so an aging Lewiston High School could be replaced with a new one.

But it became apparent as the votes were counted from the various schools where polls were set up, that the district would come up short again, with Idaho's requirement that a super-majority of 66 2/3% was needed to pass the levy.

In the end, the yes votes totaled just 61.84%.

8,561 votes were cast with 5,294 yes and 3,267 no.
