CLARKSTON - It will be a bigger, better bridge on Snake River Road.

Work to replace Ten Mile Bridge started earlier this summer. Asotin County Public Works director Joel Ristau said so far much of the work has involved building a detour route and temporary bridge around the existing bridge.

"We should see in the next few days or so that we will start detouring people through that route and over the detour bridge," Ristau said. "I appreciate everybody's patience so far with the project, I ask everybody to use caution through the construction zone and as they are detouring. We will be working on the new bridge location."

Ristau said the new bridge will be in the same place as the old one but it will feature two lanes. So far there have been only minor delays in traffic, but those could increase as the project moves forward.

"Previous projects up the Snake River we've allowed up to four-hour delays. We cut those in half for this project," said Ristau. "The contractor has not had to take advantage of those delays to that extent yet."

The project is expected to continue into the start of next year.
