LEWISTON - Valley Transit announce Wednesday the end of its Dial-A-Ride service to Lewis-Clark Valley patrons. The service had been offered for 17 years.

According to a news release from Valley Transit, the Dial-A-Ride service, which includes all Medicaid transportation for Lewiston residents, will no longer be running as of October 1.

“It is unfortunate that it has come to this, but it is not a sustainable service after the contracts with the City of Lewiston and Asotin County PTBA ended in 2009,” said Valley Transit Interim Director JR Van Tassel. “We sincerely apologize to our riders that have depended on us and do understand how vital this service is to the community.”

Valley Transit said other Medicaid Transportation providers are available for Lewiston residents and, as of September 1, must be arranged through the new Medicaid broker at 877-503-1261.

Non-Medicaid trips for all valley residents may be arranged with the City of Lewiston dispatch office at 298-1341 or with another local transportation provider.
