Havens credits coach for his inspiration to succeed
LEWISTON, ID - He's a Valedictorian, has been captain of his basketball team for the past three years and will attend Arizona State this fall. His name is Ben Havens.

"I like the feeling of succeeding," said Ben. When I do something good, it feels good, and it makes me want to do it more."

Ben is planning on majoring in civil engineering when he goes to college.

"I understand the numbers pretty well, a lot of outside work," said Ben. "I don't want to be stuck in an office all day."

After college, Ben would like to work specifically on large scale dams and bridges. He credits his coach for his inspiration to succeed.

"He's a great role model for me," said Ben. "He's always taught me to push through when you are having a tough times."

Ben is a member of the National Honor Society, DECA president, and was a state finalist for the Voice of Democracy for the past two years.

"When people say they are proud of me, I want to make sure I can go above and beyond what they think I can do," said Ben.
