MOSCOW, ID - KLEW cares about you and that's why each week during the school year, we team up with Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates to highlight an outstanding local high school student.

Reporter Rachel Dubrovin introduces you to Moscow High School Senior, Jerry Cook-Gallardo.

Moscow High School Senior Jerry Cook-Gallardo is a student with smarts….

"I'm taking calc and AP physics," said Cook-Gallardo.

Speed…

"I run track and cross country at the high school," said Cook-Gallardo. "I've done two years of track and one year of cross country. And last year at state, we placed first in the sprint. I was the 800 runner."

and skills.

"I also fence at the UI community club, University of Idaho," said Cook-Gallardo. "I've been fencing for 3-4 years. It's not very like, physically tiring. But it's sort of like physical chess, like a physical game of chess."

He says his parents help him stay motivated to maintain a 4.0 GPA, but he also has big plans for the future.

"I plan on attending Carleton College, it's a liberal arts school in Minnesota," said Cook-Gallardo. "I plan on majoring in biology or physics, and going into medical school."

Congratulations, Jerry. You're this week's "Academic All-Star."
