CLARKSTON, WA - KLEW cares about you and that's why each week during the school year, we team up with Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates to highlight an outstanding local high school student.

KLEW News introduces you to Clarkston High School student Emily Berreth.

With a scholarship under her belt, this high school senior is ready to serve her country. Her name is Emily Berreth and she's this week's "Academic All-Star."

"I either want to be a pilot which is another eight years of school which I could do easily," said Emily. "Or I want to be a doctor in the Air Force which would be more time but a doctor would be pretty cool."

Emily is going to Washington State University in the fall on a full scholarship. Then she'll join the Air Force after graduation.

"That was actually the first time they've ever actually offered a Commander scholarship," said Emily.

It's no surprise that Emily is a 4.0 student, and naturally a shoe-in as one of this year's valedictorians.

"I've always tried to keep A's up and be a valedictorian," said Emily. "I just wanted to be special I guess. So in order to be special I worked really hard on my grades."

But it wasn't an easy road getting there. It took a lot of determination to meet her goals.

"Push towards that goal and you're like I can do this, I can make it through this hard time because in the end this is going to be nothing compared to when I get to my goal," said Emily.

Congratulations Emily, you're this week's Academic All-Star.
