MOSCOW, ID - KLEW cares about you and that's why each week during the school year, we team up with Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates to highlight an outstanding local high school student.

Reporter Rachel Dubrovin introduces us to Moscow High School Senior Alex Lewis.

Alex Lewis is a senior at Moscow High School. His 4.0 GPA makes him one of the top students in his class.

"I've always loved math," said Lewis. "It just kind of came naturally to me."

And his triple-jump makes him one of the top athletes in his school.

"I just set our new school record at 45 feet, 9 and ¾ inches," said Lewis. "And it was like a 12-year record and I beat it by a little over five inches. So it felt pretty good."

Make that the state…

"I'm currently number one by two feet, and I'm 43rd in the nation in my class," said Lewis.

Looking back, Alex said being a student athlete wasn't always easy.

"Especially with all of my sport and and other extra-curricular activities that I have it's been tough to keep it up, but I've been able to manage it," said Lewis.

But now he's looking forward to going to college on an athletic scholarship.

"I want to study accounting and finance and become a CPA and financial manager," said Lewis.

Congratulations, Alex. You're this week's 'Academic All-Star.'
