OROFINO - She might not be wearing a crown, but this weeks Academic All Star is royalty.

"I'm the Clearwater County, Orofino Celebrations Incorporated, Lumberjack Days Queen," said Rales.

Along with being an honor student Whitney is also an athlete, playing both Volleyball and Softball. She says being involved physically and academically brings her a sense of balance.

"I think that sports are definitely a good outlet to get frustration or energy out if you're having a hard time," said Rales. "Like math is definitely my weak point, so if I go workout or play some sports I get it off my mind and then can go back to it with a better attitude."

And her college plans won't take this Maniac too far from Orofino. She'll be attending the University of Idaho in the fall where she plans to focus her studies in psychology.

"I want to become a social worker and specialize with children," said Rales. "This year I took a child development class where I got to go to the elementary and work with some of the younger kids and I really enjoyed that."

Congratulations Whitney! You're this weeks Academic All Star!
