Over 50? Get checked!

March 2008 is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The goals of this observance are to increase awareness about colorectal cancer and to encourage people to learn more about prevention of the disease through regular screening and a healthy lifestyle.

Colorectal cancer usually starts from polyps. The longer the polyp goes undetected, the greater chance that it will turn into cancer. Everyone is at risk for developing colorectal cancer, but the risk greatly increases in men and woman age 50 and older.
