Little Patch of Idaho
The little patch of Idaho that gives this book its name lies south of Lewiston on a rise of land called Craig Mountain. Author Dr. Daniel Miller takes us first to the village of Fairburn of a Saturday evening in 1902 and spins a web of intertwined stories leading from there to the surrounding communities of Lewiston, Winchester, Grangeville, Cottonwood, Culdesac, Lapwai, Genesee and Waha. And here are the people- the Native Nez Perce, the homesteaders, loggers, railroaders, cowboys and bankers-as they lived and worked in the years from 1895 to 1915.
