Winter has finally caught up with the Palouse and with a foot of snow accumulation in Moscow and Pullman expected through Wednesday, city officials are increasing their snow removal efforts. Officials say they've been anticipating heavy snowfall all winter long and snow removal crews are ready and able to work around the clock, providing clear roads for motorists.
"With the snow that we're anticipating--if we get the high end of the forecast--by the end of the day tomorrow we could have as much as 20 additional inches of snow and if we see that kind of snow then yeah, we'll have crews on around the clock," said Moscow Streets and Fleets Manager Tyler Palmer.
In an average winter, the Palouse receives around 30 to 40 inches of snowfall and city officials say they're expecting that amount to double this winter.
